I am 74/200 for a chemistry class right now on the wait list. I have when I was 20-30, never seen a waitlist that long though. I'd just stay on and have a backup class to take. I was 90 something on a waitlist for ch 302 last semester and would have gotten in if I hadn't dropped out when I was at like 2 or 3. So it's possible!Show up to the ones you really want. You can approach most professors after class (I'd wait until the second class if possible because some people drop out after the first day) and let them know nicely. Usually they will put your name on the list to manually add you. Other professors automatically bring out a list.
