Honda atv turns over but won t start
6 posts · Joined 2016. #1 · Jun 3, 2016 (Edited) Hi, I bought a 2009 420 ES from a guy that supposedly just needed put back together. After running into a dozen "unknown" issues, it's finally back together, but the injector won't squirt fuel. Looking at the wiring diagram, the two wires go to (1) the pcm and (2) the "J/C 1", through a 24p ...Foreman Will not start. My Honda will not start, checked the spark plug and it is firing but the atv will not start. Checked the fuel and saw alittle bit of water but too nothing serious and drained it and put some new gas. Carged the battery and it will not start still. Need some help to figure what is wrong any suggestions would be helpful.

When the brushes start wearing down, sometimes the motor will stop right on the compression stroke and the starter won't have enough oomph to start it turning. If you pull the pull rope just a bit to get it over the compression stroke, then hit the starter, it will turn over.STEP 1: remove the spark plug. it is at the cylinder head, on the left side if the engine, right under the gas tank. this will release compression from your top end and make it easier to turn over. ALTERNATE STEP 2: remove the hex cap on the side of the motor, get a 17mm wrench, and try turning it that way.You have to find out when your spark plug is firing if it is firing when its top dead center magneto key should be fine but if not firing top dead center you have problem. Clean that off with a wire brush, put it back together, and then it has the ability to ground it properly. My bet on this one, hmm, 13 volts, that's high for static but hey, put a test on it and take a look at that grounding circuit and make sure that terminal is cleaned up properly. This is what I've checked: 1. turn key on, in neutral, neutral lamp is faint. 2. press start button, neutral light goes out, no noise, no starter. 3. Battery measures 12.5 volts, jump start @ 14 volts doesn't help. 4. I changed the Hazard light Switch because it was not locking when pushed and now it is not working at all.
