I want a FRFR speaker or amplifier for my Helix. If I ever do get to play with a band again then it'll only be small venues so it doesn't have to be loud. I think I've narrowed it down to either getting a HeadRush FRFR-112 or Line 6 Powercab 112 Plus. Part of the problem is the significant difference in price.

The looper on the HeadRush is the best of the bunch by a long shot. Regarding updates, per the HeadRush forums they are currently wrapping up beta testing on a 2.3 firmware release for the HeadRush. So while the updates definitely haven't been as frequent as Helix, they also haven't let the product get stale as others have claimed. The MX5 has all the same DSP as the other headrush products. So while the stomp is essentially half a helix, the MX5 is just a smaller version of the other headrush boards, not a limited version. I personally am running a stereo 65 …

This gives you more flexibility with external controllers where you may not be able to specify a CC. Headrush allows parameters to be controlled with CC messages, but the implementation is far less flexible. If bought new, a serious discount on Helix Native is nice. I haven't tried the Headrush stuff, but the Helix stuff has always been great ...The amp models on the HX Stomp were significantly better than the MX5. IMHO. In general, the MX5 was a huge disappointment. It gets a lot of stuff right but the amp models being notably inferior was a big problem. If the POD Go sounds as good as the HX, I would take it solely for that reason. In this episode, I see how the Headrush, Kemper & Helix stack up regarding tone & feel. I do have experience running my bass through a Headrush FRFR-112 with my Helix but not the QSC K12.2. Generally I was impressed with the Headrush (@ low volume) but it doesn't preform as well on bass once you get to cranking it. The pre-amp is digital (either on-board or from the HD500x or Helix) and the power amp is valve. Both the POD HD and the Helix can be connected via Line6 link to the amp and can then be set up to configure the a digital pre-amp and manipulate the DT25's valve power section patch by patch.Helix LT is the same processor engine and available FX/Amp models as "full" Helix, just less I/O and some features like the scribble strips. I can't personally find a reason that the Headrush would be a better deal unless touchscreen editing is a must have, but I'm a Helix owner, so undoubtedly I'm a company shill, lol.Earlier this week I got together with a few friends & we all brought our modelers, Helix, AX8, HR. We arrived at the following conclusions: 1. The AX8 is tremendous sounding with an archaic on-board interface compared to either the Helix or HR 2. The Helix is fantastic sounding with an easier-to-navigate on-board interface compared to the AX8 3. The HR is killer sounding & has less available ... ….
