This decision was ridiculed a bit because many core shader files like KeepUI already had a completely free license built in due to their ReShade origins. Unlike GShade, vanilla ReShade disables the depth buffer when a certain threshold of network activity is detected. That means effects like MXAO (Ambient Occlusion, or "shadows") which rely on depth just stop working altogether or malfunction when that threshold is met.
