I can personally attest that 300-350 is fine for the mighty Getrag. Pretty sure the guys pushing 700whp are still using the stock transmissions too, but I could be wrong. From what I have read the ZF is the more sought after and stronger trans for the M50. M30 cars come with the Getrag 260 and it is pretty much bulletproof. Not as strong as the 265 but, still a great trans.If there isn't an obvious problem, it's likely best to source another transmission. If you loosen either of the two bolts for the reverse gear shaft, you'll need to reapply sealant when reinstalling. But also while searching online I saw condor speed shop has a service where they say they"machine gears and engagement parts for smoother engagement" also Which eventually reduces noises and lowers the heat..It's true that getrag 260/6 (used in late E34) can hold up really much power (+500hp) but fitting it to USA V8 won't be easy. I can't remember which slave cyl. we put in but it now "exploded", hyper extended & pushed the rod out and tore the boot.
