IIRC, low-shelf ARs were intended to accommodate registered drop-in auto sears. I’m not talking about low vs high shelf ARs, I’m talking about milling a lower to the exact internal dimensions of a M16, minus the sear hole. Armscorp did it, and they sold their lowers that way.The host gun does not need to be registered. They are about $15-20K right now for an M16 DIAS. As for just buying an M16 parts kit with the auto sear, I believe that is legal, but keeping the auto parts would be at best be a gray area.
