D1VE AA block ? I might buy a engine that has D1VE AA block to use to build a stoker engine. Is this a good block to use for that and is this block a 429 or 460 block and does it have thick cylinder walls for boring far over. The engine also have DOVE-C heads on it what size valves are in it and what cc are they.The dyno tests in there showed the following progression: SCJ heads: Gain of 35hp vs base d0ve heads. Ported d0ve heads - gain of 65hp vs unported, or gain of 30hp vs unported SCJ heads. The porting they did on the base heads looks a lot like Paul Kane's photos above. (Good info on Paul's website BTW).There is a big difference between those heads. DOVE-C heads were casted in 1970 and have a 75cc combustion chamber. D3VE-A2A heads were casted in 1973 and sport a 92cc combustion chamber and induction hardened exsaust seats. DOVE's are a good base to either use as is or build bigger. I usually do a full on port job, 2.225" intakes and 1.76" exaust, hard seats, bronze guides, trace the head gasket and unshroud the intake, polish the chamber and the ported exaust runner.D1VE AA block ? The same piston in an engine with 92cc heads will have 9.14 to 1 compression. So figure that an 8.0 to 1 D3VE engine will have about 9.7 to 1 with D0VE or C8VE heads on it without changing the pistons. Jimmy.

The D0VE-A block is known as the "thick web" block and was used for CJ's as well as standard passenger cars. It is a desirable block. The D0VE-C heads are standard "N" code heads with the smaller ports and valves. The D2's are open chamber and yes those are prone to detonation (the D2's only). D3's are really close-port wise-to the D0VE's but obviously the D3's have bolt-down rockers and bigger chambers. The E7's have TINY ports and-well-the only intake that fits them is the EFI intake (fuelie's).
