In Alaska the big players are Verizon, ATT and local outfits GCI and ACS. Recently ACS wireless was bought out by GCI in order to phase out the competition. GCI is GSM and ACS is CDMA. For the most part all phones usually work in and near any community of size, say over 500. I live in Alaska where T-Mobile's coverage map shows that I get 4G LTE coverage, and so was enticed by T-Mobile's 55 Plus plan, 2 lines for $60 unlimited text, voice, AND data (for those over the age of 55). If you use t-mobile in Alaska, you have lower data limits compared to being in the rest of the United States using your phone normally at home! 👆 If you have t-mobile and go to Alaska, you will be roaming.
