Just spin the barrel adjuster counter clockwise to maybe 8-10 revolutions enough for the reverse to engage without pulling the lever. The re-tighten the jam nut....done. What finally worked for me was to push up and down shift buttons in while in the off position. Keep both pressed down and then turn key to on. Let off both the push down, up, down, then push throttle all the way and let off. Has been working fine for the last 2 weeks. I don't think the shift lever that's stuck in high gear, it moves, it's gotta be something in the transmission, it's in high even in reverse, it's hard to get it going but once it does look out, it will run just as fast in reverse as in forward.
